This is for your protection as a consumer! This ensures that the company you are planning on using has all insurance is in place and the business operates within normal business ethics. Workmans Comprehensive Insurance is very expensive for moving companies in this industry and most movers (not licensed) DO NOT have this important policy. If they dont, any mover on your personal or business property who gets hurt could turn around and sue you! Also another expensive policy a mover should have is cargo insurance. If they dont have this, you will be at a loss of no furniture coverage for all of your goods.

If you ever are in doubt, ask the mover for a copy of the company's insurance certificates for all coverages mentioned above to verify they have all coverage's in place! They should never have a problem producing an official copy of proof DIRECT from the insurance carrier - NOT THE MOVING COMPANY! If your copy comes from the mover itself, chances are they do not have real insurance. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is also another nice way for you to see how the company conducts its business.
